A SOLDIER'S STORY
“During the height of the Vietnam War, I decided to enlist in the US Army on July 26, 1966 even though I had a deferred exemption for being enrolled at Rice UniversityAfter basic training and advanced infantry training, I graduated as a 2nd Lieutenant.  I was assigned to the 2nd Armored Division, Division Artillery at Ft. Hood as Battery Executive Officer for Battery B, 1st of the 78th Field Artillery (155 mm Self-Propelled Howitzers)."
